How big is your group?

When planning, start by considering the size of your group and the facilities you need. Kinclune House, with its annex, accommodates up to 14 guests, making it ideal for multi-generational families, reunions, or celebrations. The estate’s modernised features ensure comfort, while the extensive grounds provide opportunities for outdoor activities and nature walks. If you need more space, we have 3 equally beautiful and unique self-catering cottages within a few meters of the house.

Meal planning for large groups

Booking a self-catering group holiday can be a cost-saver and our spacious kitchen-dining room allows guests the freedom to prepare meals together in the well-equipped kitchen. The large kitchen island and Sonos speakers means that food prep can be a fun, social affair, so no one feels banished to the kitchen. The dining area comfortably accommodates seated dining for 16 or a buffet for up to 28.

Pre-planning meals can save a lot of hassle during the holiday. Cooking in batches, and preparing meals that can easily be scaled up, such as casseroles, barbecues, or one-pot dishes, will save you time and energy.

Getting the shopping delivered to Kinclune is easy. Just do an online shop with Tesco or Asda and select Kinclune as the delivery address. Most guests manage to book a slot at or near the time of their arrival. If not, we can meet the driver and unpack for you. We have a large fridge-freezer and plenty of pantry storage for your stay and we supply kitchen basics like tea, coffee, sugar, washing up liquid, tinfoil and kitchen towels so that you don’t have to buy everything.

If you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want to relax, we can give you local catering options to choose from which can include hiring a private, in-house chef to serve a four-course banquet or simply stocking the fridge with pre-prepared homecooked meals from our local farm shop. Winter months offer skiing, while spring and summer provide hiking, wildlife watching, fishing, clay pigeon shooting and visits to nearby castles or distilleries. Kinclune is also within easy reach of the east coast, the Arbroath Cliff Trail, Lunan Bay, Stonehaven harbour and Dunnotar Castle, as well as golfing favourites St Andrews and Carnoustie. Early booking is essential, especially if you’re planning during peak holiday periods, to secure the exclusive use of the property and to arrange any additional services, such as housekeeping, outdoor activities or local tours.

Plan travel logistics early

The estate is located in rural Angus, Scotland, near Kirriemuir, which is about 40 minutes from Dundee, and it is under 2 hours from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. If you’re traveling from farther afield, you might want to arrange carpooling or private transportation as public transit may be limited. Mini-bus hire or taxi pick-up from Dundee train station can be arranged.

Make sure everyone knows the driving directions and travel arrangements well in advance. We do have an EV charger for those with electric cars.

Consider the age range of your group

The diverse nature of your group may include different age ranges, from young children to grandparents. Kinclune House, with its large living spaces and comfortable bedrooms, is well-suited for intergenerational family holidays. While we don’t have any ground-floor bedrooms in Kinclune House, for group members with accessibility issues, our cottages offer ground-floor sleeping accommodation and ensuite facilities. The spacious public rooms in Kinclune House still provide an excellent social space for everyone for daytime and evening dining and socialising.

Consider arranging activities that suit everyone, like walks around the estate for older family members and outdoor games for the younger ones. Having a mix of group and individual activities will keep everyone happy.
