Kinclune House, located in north-east Scotland, is a fantastic base from which to explore, not only Angus, but also Perthshire and Aberdeenshire. Here are some of our favourite activities and experiences for family holidays, group gatherings or corporate events.

Whisky & Gin Experiences

The Gin Bothy Experience, Glamis – This is a local gem! Discover the art of small-batch gin production in a charming countryside setting, with tastings and stories of Scotland’s gin-making heritage.

Arbikie Distillery – A stunning Angus field-to-bottle distillery overlooking Lunan Bay, producing premium whisky, gin and vodka using sustainable practices. Enjoy a guided tour and tasting while learning about their farm-to-bottle ethos.

Historic & Cultural Landmarks

Glamis Castle – Just 10 miles from Kinclune, Glamis Castle is the childhood home of the late Queen Mother. An iconic baronial castle offering guided tours, beautiful gardens and an excellent café for a relaxing lunch. The hour-long castle tour is a fast-paced and fascinating jaunt through the history of the castle. We highly recommend it.

Dunnottar Castle – A breathtaking clifftop castle offering a dramatic glimpse into Scotland’s history. Dunnottar has witnessed battles, royal visits and the safeguarding of Scotland’s Crown Jewels. Just over an hour’s drive from Kinclune, it’s an unforgettable day trip for history lovers, photographers and anyone seeking stunning coastal scenery. A visit to Dunnottar pairs well with exploring Stonehaven’s charming harbour and enjoying fresh seafood by the shore – an absolute treat in summer.

Balmoral & Royal Deeside – Just over an hour from Kinclune. Journey through the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, taking in breathtaking scenery, wildlife and picturesque Highland villages like Braemar. Stop for lunch at the famous Fife Arms and explore the area’s royal connections.

Outdoor Adventures

Angus Glens & Glenshee Mountain Resort – From scenic drives to mountain adventures, this area offers options for sightseeing, wildlife watching, hiking, or even seasonal activities at Glenshee Mountain Resort.

Fishing & Shooting – Experience the best of Scottish country pursuits in Angus and Perthshire, including guided fishing trips on pristine rivers and lochs. We can arrange guided fishing experiences with Alba Fishing or local ghillies, from fly fishing tuition to fully catered fishing retreats, making it an excellent option for corporate groups or team-building events.

Photography & Wildlife Watching – With its panoramic views, diverse wildlife, and our very own Highland Pony Stud, Kinclune Estate is the perfect setting for photography enthusiasts. We previously had the pleasure of working with talented equine photographer, The Pixel Nomad, and next month we are hosting a week-long photography training course by Nikita van der Haven for European guests, showcasing the beauty of the Angus Glens.
