Kinclune is owned and run by Rowan and Marguerite Osborne.  The farm is an organic unit and comprises a pedigree herd of Saler and Highland cattle, a commercial flock of Scottish Blackface, Blueface Leicester and Llyen sheep, the Na Dailach Highland Pony Stud and Kinclune Clydesdales.

RHINNS POINT NATIVE PONY SHOW 2014

The Rhinns Point Native Pony Show was Rosebush's Open Ridden debut.  Congratulations to the Ridden and Overall Champions, Alice Page and Trowan Monty.

Prior to the Rhinns Point Show, Rosebush has been lightly shown under saddle in the novice, winning a strong class at Alyth and taking Reserve Champion and later qualifying for the NPS Picton Final at Malvern where she was very ably ridden by Amie Fitzsimons Dedman as judging commitments meant Virginia was unable to ride.  

Rosebush is out of Highland Show Female Champion and Reserve Supreme, Rosedew na Dailach, and by NPS Scotland Summer Show Champion Stallion, Glenmazeran na Dailach.  In Hand Rosebush has had many wins including being twice Champion at the NPS Scotland Summer Show and separately winning the Highland Pony Society Bronze Medal.

Congratulations to father and daughter team, Billy Chapman and Lynne MacDonald, Mains of Coynach, on their success with newly licenced two year old stallion, Stone Roses na Dailach.  Stone Roses was purchased from the Na Dailach Stud as a yearling by Billy, Lynne and Lynne's husband, George.  He is out of Prionnsonna Rose na Dailach and by Charlie of Muck.  On the day of the show Marguerite exhibited Stone Roses' sire and was very happy to be beaten into the Reserve Champion spot.

ZIZOU NA DAILACH EXPORTED

Zizou has been exported to German Highland Pony Society President, Mrs Patricia Laves.  He will be taking up stud duties at her Kilnacasan Highland Pony Stud along with resident sire, Ruraidh of Tormore.  Patricia plans to parade Zizou at a prestigious European Stallion Parade later this year and he will be covering visiting mares aswell as the Kilnacasan mare.  Zizou is photographed below in his new home by Patricia's daughter, Marie Laves.

 

 

RHAPSODY NA DAILACH RETURNS FROM GERMANY

The McGovern family exported two highland pony mares, Lady Elizabeth of Aberdeen and Rhapsody na Dailach, to Bad Fallingbostel, Germany, while Dad, Iain, was posted there with the British Army.  Iain's long service with the British Army came to an end this year with his retirement.   Iain, wife Tracey, and children Abbie and Josh, have now moved back to Scotland and brought the ponies with them.  It was with great delight that the Na Dailach Stud welcomed both ponies to Kinclune together with one more addition, 8 year old Abbie's Welsh Section A pony, Galaxy.

Kaizer Chief is owned by breeder Toni Cadwell (www.elmerehighlandponies.co.uk) and beautifully produced by Liz Cross. 

He is out Royal Highland Show Female Champion, Rosedew na Dailach and by NPS Scotland Summer Show Champion, Glenmazeran na Dailach.

The na Dailach Stud sold Kaizer Chief to James Hendrie of the Tower Stud as a yearling where he went on to sire First Prize Filly, The National Winter Fair 2011, Tower Mischief , and 3rd prize 3 yo filly the Royal Highland Show 2013, Tower Silver Bell. 

Kaizer Chief's full sister is In-hand and Ridden Champion, Rosebush II na Dailach.

3 year old filly, Phosa, pictured with her half sister, Rosebush.  Both ponies won their respective classes at the NPS Scotland Summer Show with Rosebush taking the Championship.

Phosa has been very lightly shown, having previously won Reserve Champion Female at Forfar Foal Show.

One of the Stud's three stallions, Charlie of Muck, made a great start to the 2012 Show Season winning his first ever dressage competition at Inchcoonans Equestrian.  

He went on to take the NPS Silver Medal at the Ingliston Grand Slam aswell as Reserve Champion In-Hand M&M.  This year he has qualified for the NPS Championships in the Minns Open Ridden, the Home Produced Ridden and Home Produced In-Hand.

Charlie is ridden and produced by Virginia Osborne.

Rosebush followed in the footsteps of her sire, Glenmazeran na Dailach, to win Champion at the National Pony Society Scotland Summer Show.  Her Dam is Royal Highland Agricultural Show Female Champion, Rosedew na Dailach.

Launch of HorseScotland

Marguerite attended the launch of HorseScotland at Blair Castle International Horse Trials.  The Horse Trials made for a lovely setting and the Sports Horse Stallion Parade was underway during the launch.  Marguerite had her various hats on as Highland Pony Society Vice President, Clydesdale Horse Society Secretary and Scottish Equestrian Breeders Association Vice Chairperson.  Good luck to HorseScotland and well done for putting on an excellent launch.

 

RHIBHINN NA DAILACH

5 yo mare, Rhibhinn na Dailach, was Novice Champion and Reserve Overall Ridden Champion at the NESHPES City of Aberdeen Highland Pony Show ridden by Virginia Osborne.  Virginia stood Ridden Clydesdale Champion the day before with Kinclune Danny Boy at the City of Aberdeen Clydesdale Horse Show.

Congratulations to Louise Cushnie on winning the Overall and Open Ridden Championships at NESHPES aswel as the In-hand Ridden Champion with Lancelot of Whitefield.

The Royal Highland Show was Rhibhinn's first outing under saddle.  She was place 3rd In-Hand and 5th out of 20 in the Ridden giving her the best combined placing for a mare entered in the In-Hand and Ridden sections.

5 year old gelding, Kinclune Danny Boy, came 4th in the CHAPS (UK) Horse of the Year Show Qualifing Class at the Royal Highland Agricultural Show.  On his debut in the Coloured Horse Section, only two months earlier, he took Reserve Champion and won the Ridden and In-Hand Qualifiers for the CHAPS (UK) Championship Show.  
 
In 2009, his first season under saddle aged 4 years, Danny Boy attended three shows winning:
  • Champion Blair Castle Internaional Horse Trials Clydesdale Ridden Final
  • Reserve Champion ridden Clydesdale and the prize for the best horse by a Dillars stallion, The Royal Highland Show
  • Champion ridden Clydesdale and Qualifier for the Clydesdale Ridden Championships at Blair Castle, Perth Agricultural Show 2009

 The na Dailach Stud are delighted to have two of our ponies in the ownership of Paul and Christine Bassett.  In Isla's career with Christine she won at Equifest, The Royal Highland and been admired by HRH The Queen at Windsor.


GAIGHAN NA DAILACH SETS SAIL FOR SWITZERLAND 

Four year old gelding Gaighan (Charmian na Dailach x Charlie of Muck), pictured with Marguerite and Virginia, has set off to his new owner in Switzerland.  Rowan, Marguerite and family would like to wish his new owner the very best of luck for the future.  He has a wonderful and picturesque new home with a young family and their two Shetland ponies.  We hope that updates will follow.


MARGUERITE IS VICE PRESIDENT OF THE HIGHLAND PONY SOCIETY & VICE CHAIRPERSON OF THE SCOTTISH EQUESTRIAN BREEDERS ASSOCIATION (SEBA) 

 

Marguerite is the new Highland Pony Society Vice President.  In accepting her new role at the Society's AGM she said:

"I am very pleased to have been elected and I intend to do the best that I can for the Society".

Marguerite is looking forward to working with both SEBA Chairman, Dougal Dick, and Highland Pony Society President, Hugh Duncan, together with HPS Council, and Society Secretary, Susie Robertson.

Marguerite established the Na Dailach Highland Pony Stud in 1981 with her husband Rowan.  She has many valued friends in the Highland Pony Society and other Societies and looks forward to meeting members and breeders not known to her.
